This place is relaxed and friendly and because of this - and its location on King Street - it's pretty busy, particularly on weekends.

Nevertheless its worth giving it a go as the food is quite good, the serving quantities are generous, the service is attentive and the prices are quite reasonable for the area.


Mlady was attracted to the freshly squeezed green apple juice - and it certainly was fresh. It was also quite a good quantity as well as being full of flavour.

My "macho" chai latte was warm, frothy and spicy. Possibly a bit to sweet - even for me - but not lacking flavour. A bottle of "tap" water - Sydney's original eco-water - was also delivered promptly to the table with two glasses. The whole "tap" water story is actually on the back of each bottle for your reading pleasure as well!

Mlady had a healthy start to the day here with the gluten free grainy bread toasted and accompanied with mixed berry jam. She said it was very tasty. My toasted banana bread was also good in quality and it was a hefty slice as well.

2042 Cafe & Deli is a deservedly popular place. The food is good value, quality and price, the service is fast and friendly and the whole place has a pleasant feel to it.
