There are worse ways to spend a lazy weekend afternoon than sitting in an outdoor beer garden sipping a few of their house brews and listening to live music. This was our introduction to Jervis Bay Brewing Co. It has such a relaxed vibe that fits perfectly with its South Coast location. They first opened their doors in December 2019 and despite bushfires and pandemics they’ve actually grown and become a popular place for locals and visitors alike.
The paddles here are hugely popular. You get four of their tap beers to sample from a choice of ten that are available. They were going out so fast when we were there that they had to go and grab the empties for refilling!
These were the ten beers and ciders available on tap when we visited. We decided to share a paddle. Mlady fancies dark beers and grabbed the 15 Fathoms Dark IPA and The Velvet Wombat oatmeal stout. While both had plenty of flavour she went back for seconds on the stout! Sir had a Mountain Ghost hazy pale ale and also went for the Batlow Cider and enjoyed both. His seconds was the pale ale.
We were there with a group and between us all we probably tried every beer on tap there - with a few seconds for good measure!
On weekends they also have a food truck there. It varies from weekend to weekend so check their web site. When we dropped by it was Indonesian food. They also always make sure there are vegetarian options available too.
Jervis Bay Brewing Co was opened by four local friends, Oisin Sweeney (now head brewer), Paul Walker, Ben Hutchings and Christian Wood. The idea came at a BBQ - of course - but it has turned out to be a great one! The place has gone from strength to strength and its somewhere we’ll definitely return to on our next vist to the area. They also sell growlers, squealers and canned beers to take away 7 days a week and its pet friendly here too! Put Jervis Bay Brewing Co on your list to visit - you won’t regret it!
