Saddles
20 Ashbrookes Rd
Mt White, NSW
It’s hard to know where to start in describing Saddles. First of all - the place is stunning. The inside area oozes appeal but it’s the sweeping veranda gazing out over the water that takes pride of place. It’s a simply beautiful area to sit in for breakfast, lunch or dinner.
We were there in a group for brunch so here goes! Of course bacon and eggs are a popular choice. These poached eggs came with house made sourdough as they have their own bakery here at Saddles - and even sell some of their products to go as well. The thick cut smoky bacon was especially nice.
For the sweet tooth the house made waffle with maple and mascarpone, strawberries, raspberries and blueberries is certainly the dish for you. It’s a big waffle for starters, dusted with sugar and with a nice fruity combo too.
The breakfast menu also has their lovely pork and fennel sausage roll with house sauce. These big pastry treats are extremely tasty. A few of us ordered this after spotting them on other tables and eyeing them off eagerly. Their taste lived up to their appearance too.
Of course another bacon and egg option is the fried eggs. These also come with their thick cut bacon and of course their house made sourdough.
For something more brunch-like there is always the beef and mushroom pie with house sauce. Again this was spied on other tables. A few of pour group grabbed this as well and didn’t regret it for one minute. They bake well here!
Finally, there was the bacon and scrambled eggs with house made sourdough. We’d had the full range of bacon and egg combinations here within our group. The variety is good as it caters to all tastes.
The indoor area is certainly pretty but we loved the sweeping veranda with its views out over to pond. So relaxing. We couldn’t help imagining how nice it would be here in the evening in Spring, Summer or Autumn, sipping a wine or cocktail, nibbling on a share plate and unwinding. Soon!
We left Saddles very impressed. They’ve done an outstanding job here in every aspect. This is a place to relax, enjoy good food and service and take in the surroundings. It’s a short hop north of Sydney and worth every minute of it.
