SAMMY'S KITCHEN - CANBERRA CBD

Sammy's Kitchen
Canberra Centre
Bunda St
Canberra

Sammy's is an institution in Canberra and its easy to see why. Its fast, crowded, hectic and delicious. It's a consistent performer in a tough market. You wont get silver service here - but you will get a great meal.

It was anotrher solo meal and Sammy's buzz and activity is both a great backdrop and a pity to be alone in. The food here is ideal to share - in fact its prefereable to do this. Nonetheless, dining alone here is still worthwhile. The service is fast and efficient - this is basically the whole philosophy of the place. The spring rolls make a great starter. They are fresh, crisp and tasty. At $4.40 a serve they're solid value too.
Its harder to get a selection of meals to sample when dining solo - but the beauty of the hawker meals here is that they can be used for groups or just for a meal for one. Their Char Kwey Teow is perfect for this. It comes fresh and hot and full of flavour. The noodles are just right, the combination of chicken, prawns and sprouts are ideal and the kick from the sauce and chilli is overwhelming without being overpowering. At $14.40 its a bargain.

Of course, whilst there's an extensive range of options on the menu, you can always rely on some other great choices on the specials board which usually has a further six to twelve meals to tempt you.

Sammy's Kitchen is licenced and also BYO for wine. Its cheap, fast, chaotic, noisy and a proven winner for consistently great food.
