Mamak is raved about by just about everyone these days and the long
queues at meal times certainly prove it is popular.
We started with two of the roti dishes to share. All roti's are served
with two curry dips and a spicy sambal sauce.
First choice was Roti Canai billed as the original roti. It is described as crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside - and it was delicious. It costs
$5.50.
Next was Roti Bawang described as roti stuffed with lashings of sweet red onions. This was nice but not as good as the roti canai. Its cost was $6.50.
Our first main course ordered was Kari Kambing described as spicy
lamb curry slow cooked until tender. It was spicy and it certainly was tender. It was in a thin spicy sauce (I personally prefer thicker sauces) with plenty of kick. There was plenty of it for $16.00.
Our final dish was Ayam Goreng described as Malaysian style fried chicken marinated with herbs and spices and full of flavour. At $4.00
a piece it was good value. The pieces were large, well cooked, tender and juicy inside and crisp and crunchy outside
Mamak has some lovely dishes. The service was excellent, food arrived
fast and it was fresh and tasty. I liked it but just feel there are other nearby restaurants just as good or better but not getting the same hype.
