JOE BLACK - SYDNEY CBD

This is a quirky and quaint place tucked away down a laneway. Its also easy to miss - you could walk past it without noticing it if you weren't paying attention.

You first notice the proclamation on the notice board near the counter. It's long so it takes a while to read - but give it a go.

If you're after take away join the queue at the counter but if you want to eat in there are menu's on the tables and table service.

We were eating in and grabbed the big table just inside the doorway - a large wooden table with foreign coins and notes under a glass top.

I was extremely tempted by the dish that had cherry tomatoes and avocado on toast with a poached egg on top.

However the bacon and egg sandwich also looked good so that ended up being the choice of the day. It was a good choice too. Plenty of bacon and a nicely cooked egg combined well on this fat tasty sandwich. It was a big serving.

The coffee here is nice as well.

They have plenty of quaint things here. Water bottles on the tables are actually beer bottles. Your glasses for this are enamel cups. This is an interesting place with good food and coffee.
