SHORES RESTAURANT - HORNSBY, SYDNEY

Shores is the newest addition to the growing foodie hub of Hornsby.

It's got a slightly more sophisticated feel to it than some of the more casual places nearby. As a result it's easy to see how it fills both the cafe option by day and more of a restaurant option by night.

The first thing you notice is the striking water feature at the entrance. It's an entire wall of water which certainly gets lots of attention from both customers and passers-by. It stops you and often gets you in, so it clearly works from a number of perspectives.

We were there for a quick brunch before heading off elsewhere. We started with a few drinks - coffee, tea and juice. They arrived promptly and all hit the spot. The fresh juice was just that - clearly freshly squeezed.

So on to the food. It's always a hard choice at brunch time. How hungry do you feel? Whats on offer and does it simply grab you straight away? Its hard to resits smoked salmon and eggs though. The Smoking Salmon was eggs Benedict with Norwegian smoked salmon and free range eggs on two English muffin halves all slathered with Hollandaise sauce. They were really good too!

Eggs Anyway is a great option, especially when there are so many different sides you can add to suit your preferences on a given day.

One of our choices was poached eggs with sides of halloumi and roasted tomato with mixed herbs. The meal also came with a small green salad on the side and several slices of toast as well. Aren't runny yolks so good to look at - gooey yellow/orange oozing out across a plate!

Our other choice was scrambled eggs with a side of crispy bacon. It was a good sized serving of bacon too for the piggy lovers. This dish also had the small salad garnish and plenty of freshly cooked toast.

Breakfasts here are nicely plated and taste as good as they look. There are also healthier choices, but we steered away from them on this occasion!

Shores Restaurant is certainly a pleasant place. Service is friendly and efficient and the whole place has a really nice chic feel to it. On a fine day when the sun is shining they also open up the front windows and it has an almost al fresco feel. After sampling their breakfast offerings we'd certainly go back to try dinner!
