Fourth Fish Café and Restaurant
1/12-16 Burns Bay Rd
Lane Cove, Sydney
The North Shore isn’t overflowing with seafood places and we were looking for something fishy for dinner. We stumbled across Fourth Fish and decided to give it a go. With its indoor and outdoor areas it’s actually a lot bigger than it first appears. It wasn’t the warmest of nights so we grabbed a spot inside and started browsing through the menu.
We decided to share a starter and settled on the chilli salt crispy school prawns. It turned out to be a good choice too with a generous plate of small golden prawns and a nice aioli for dipping and the obligatory lemon wedge as well. They were nice and crisp as promised too!
After many an eating trip to Tasmania, Mlady chose an old favourite, the Huon salmon with chips and salad. It was a hefty piece of fish that was nicely cooked. The chips were in a separate enamel bowl and were hot, crisp and fluffy - ticking all the boxes.
Sir uncharacteristically steered away from battered seafood and chose the grilled John Dory with slaw and fries. He also swapped out the regular chips for a serving of sweet potato fries - a nice option in offer for all mains. The fish was nicely cooked too - not over-grilled. He loved the sweet potato fries as well.
On a warm Spring, Summer or even Autumn day or evening the outside area would be a lovely spot to sit, sip and nibble. It’s under cover too but obviously more open, letting the breeze drift through while you watch the world go by.
Fourth Fish Cafe and Restaurant is a pleasant and casual place that serves up some tasty seafood options. It’s a place that would be easy to revisit on a regular basis for a nice seafood fix.
