We were out browsing the shops and markets in Newtown and had gone a fair way down to Enmore Rd. We decided it was time for a caffeine hit and stopped by Macaroni for this. It's clearly an Italian restaurant that serves a wide range of dishes and it seemed a shame to be simply having coffee - but that what what we wanted and needed! The [lace has a kind of industrial feel to it with blackened ceilings, exposed brickwork and a lot of natural dark timber.
We did grab our two coffees - a soy cap for Mlady and a skim flat white for Sir. The usuals. They arrived quickly and they were both hot and tasty brews.
Despite the "drink only" concept on walking in, we did spy some very attractive almond crescents on the counter - so we added two of these. It turned out to be a good move. We haven't had these biscuits for ages and both agreed we need them more often! They were great.
So while it did seem a pity to be in an Italian restaurant only having coffee and biscuits, it was certainly a pleasant experience. The coffee was good, the service friendly and efficient and those biscuits ....... mmmmmm.
