Mowbray Eatery
1 Felton Ave
Lane Cove West, NSW
Mowbray Eatery is hidden away on Mowbray Rd in Lane Cove. You'll find it on a quiet corner, underneath some beautiful tall trees. We visited on a lovely Sunday morning for brunch and were delighted to walk into this sun-filled cafe and soak up its warmth and cosy design.
Straight away the service was exemplary and uber-friendly, we were greeted, seated and waited within 1 minute of arriving...perfect for a Sunday morning when all you can think about is coffee. We were excited to try their food too, with farm to table produce and menu. Duke ordered a latte and Duchess a cappuccino, and the Toby's Estate coffee came quick and hot. Mmmm...now our brains were working again.
The menu at Mowbray Eatery has a bit of everything, sure to tempt meat lovers, sugar lovers, veggie lovers and simple meal lovers alike. Duke and Duchess often have very contrasting taste for breakfast so this menu hit all the right spots with us. Duke was especially hungry, and ordered the Big Mowbray. This came with Argentinian sausage, field mushrooms, roasted tomato, bacon and 2 eggs (made the way you like, in this case, fried) all on organic sourdough. Duke demolished this generous meal, his favourite was the sausage, with its aromatic spices and flavours.
Duchess has a sweet tooth at all times of the day, so she ordered the French Toast. Brioche french toast, with maple caramelised bacon and pineapple, miso caramel sauce, creme fraiche, smashed nuts, a couple of dainty strawberries and garnished with pretty edible flowers. Duchess literally said 'wow!' as this arrived in front of her, beautifully presented on a purple plate and stacked high with each delicious layer visible, this dish was incredible. She enjoyed every mouthful.
We were both absolutely wonderfully full after our meals. A perfect Sunday morning out at a charming cafe. If we'd had room, we would have had one of the delicious looking pastries on offer, or perhaps one of the great loose leaf teas available. It'll have to be next time.
Duke and Duchess dined as guests of Mowbray Eatery. Thank you to Aura at Sydney Public Relations for organising our visit, and also to Tasia who looked after us wonderfully on the day.
