Fratello is a newish Cafe in a prime foot traffic position on the edge of World Square. It’s only been open a few months but they’re already attracting a following. With high tables and stools together with a rustic industrial decor it has a nice feel to it. We dropped in for brunch with friends.
First dish up was a very nice Eggs Benedict. This has grilled asparagus, sautéed baby spinach and poached eggs all on toasted brioche with a choice of hickory smoked ham or smoked salmon. Uncharacteristically, the ham won on this occasion. It was all slathered in a healthy quantity of vibrant and tangy bernaise sauce.
Next dish was the zucchini, corn and halloumi fritters. This big serving had roast garlic hummus, quinoa, pearl barley salad, radish, cherry tomato and onion with poached eggs all on toasted soy linseed sourdough.
The Halloumi Stack was third up. It had sautéed baby spinach, portobello mushrooms, a pile of halloumi and poached eggs all on toasted soy linseed sourdough.
Last chouce was Eggs Your Way - which was fried. Sides of both avocado and bacon made this another filling and tasty meal.
We do need to mention the coffee here too. The constant stream of customers grabbing take aways showed how popular it was.
We heard that apart from breakfasts and lunches they are also looking at offering dinners here too. As they’re licensed as well, it could be a good move!
