Roastville Espresso
157 Victoria Rd
Marrickville, Sydney
If you haven’t already, you need to save 157 Victoria Street Marrickville into your GPS. Why you ask? Because once you have finished reading this, you will be racing to get to Roastville cafe in Marrickville ASAP.
Located in Marrickville’s industrial area, right next to Marrickville Public School, Roastville has turned what you used to be an old warehouse, to a slick, funky café. Everything in the place has been carefully considered. From the wooden furniture and the lighting to the functional layout which gives it a clear edge ahead of any café you have visited in the inner west.
Roastville serves coffee brewed from locally grown coffee beans so it’s no surprise our long blacks were strong and sharp with lovely aromatic hints.
Time for some food though and Roastville’s menu is truly amazing. Although its often we can’t decide what to have, it’s not often that we look at a menu and literally want to try everything on it. With a long list of breakfast items but also a brunch menu that had us salivating, we really were struggling to pick what to eat.
Count J landed on the Brunch plate. A beautifully presented plate with hot smoked apple wood salmon, house labne, avocado, beetroot paste and zucchini quinoa falafel. The dish had a real middle eastern flavour to it and the mix of labne, falafel and smoked salmon created a real taste sensation.
Count N chose the Kimchi Waffles, which on the menu are listed as infamous and judging by how popular they were, that statement is not an exaggeration. The presentation is just outstanding, resembling a mountain of flavours which are nothing short of irresistible. Juicy fried chicken, sriracha, kewpie mayonnaise and shaved parmesan feature heavily here and their performances are definitely Oscar worthy.
We finished off our visit with some beautifully made French toast and at Roastville Espresso they serve French toast like we have never seen before. The brioche bread adds a hint of spice and sweetness and together with the lemon curd and raspberry coulis, creates a beautiful combination of subtle sweet flavours. But top that with some almond praline and salted caramel gelato, yes, you read right, gelato on French toast, you have the royalty of French toast served right in front of you.
Roastville Espresso in Marrickville is hands down one of the most interesting cafes we have visited in a very long time. The food is amazing, the space is unique and the service is just outstanding. It might get a busy during peak hours so if you arrive and there is a short wait for a table, don’t despair, the 5 or 10 minute wait is well worth it.
The Counts dined as guests of Roastville Espresso. Special thanks to April from CPM Online Marketing Solutions for this invitation.
