Kurrajong Village
We were on an escape into the mountains and decided to stop off for
some brunch - one of the best meals of the day! So we detoured into the very pretty village of Kurrajong to Sassafras Creek. It's an interesting place with a front courtyard leading in to a deceptively large indoor dining area and the finally a small verandah at the back with views to kill for where we sat.
We were both hungry and were advised that the breakfast menu was
ending soon so we hurriedly ordered coffees and food. Order one was the light breakfast which consisted of a nicely poached egg on toast with generous servings of avocado and smoked salmon and fresh basil as a garnish. It was a lovely combination and quickly disappeared.
Order two was for the lover of scrambled eggs so this was chosen on
sourdough, again with fresh basil as a garnish. It looked and tasted great - the only little thing was that the toast under it was a bit burned.
The coffees had quite correctly arrived first and were also very nice.
The bill doesn't come to the table - you pay at the counter as you leave. As we went out onto the front courtyard a three piece band had set up and were playing. What a great atmosphere and well done to the management for this initiative!
Sassafras Creek has a lovely atmosphere, beautiful views from the rear and really nice food. Its a hidden gem in the mountains thats worth the effort to find.
