RUOCCO’S PIZZERIA E RISTORANTE - SOUTH FREMANTLE, WESTERN AUSTRALIA

Ruocco’s Pizzeria e Ristorante

Italian food in Fremantle sounded attractive to us on a nice sunny Saturday. With this in mind we headed to Ruocco’s. This place has been around for a long while, even though it’s gone through a series of changes over the years. We understand that the chef here has now taken the reins.

When in Rome - or at least an Italian restaurant - we often tend to stay to theme. We therefore ordered a couple of Aperol Spritz’s to sip on. It was a sunny day and we didn’t need to work hard to convince ourselves! We settled in, enjoyed our drinks and perused the menu.

This was a wonderful way to start our meal. The trio of dips came with a whole pizza Bianca. It was hot and fresh and went so well with the tasty dips. It looked spectacular too.

Gnocchi has fast become a go to of ours - well Mlady in particular - when eating Italian food. The Gnocchi Ragu Bolognese ticked another box too as she also loves anything Bolognese. This dish was a generous serving of these potato dumplings with a rich Bolognese sauce and all topped with plenty of melted parmesan. It looked rich, oozy and delicious and tasted just as good.

The crab linguini had local crab meat, roast sweet potatoes, capsicum, spinach, cherry tomatoes, buffalo mozzarella and a dash of cream. It was another hearty dish with big flavours - and plenty of crab meat too.

Ruocco’s is a surprisingly big place. Once you take into account the sprawling outside seating - which is very popular on a nice day - it’s actually very big.

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit here. The food was good - big servings and tasty - and it’s a pleasant place to sit and eat. This is somewhere we’d be more than happy to revisit.
