Malay Village

Chinatown, Sydney
This is a strange place. It's mostly outside and initially appears very laid back - almost to laid back. You enter off the street straight into the outdoor seating area.
Most people don't sit down straight away though. This is because everyone gets mesmerised by the roti chefs twirling and tossing roti as they make it. It's such an impressive show.
Some people simply walk in to watch this and then go again after the show finishes - but it actually isn't a show its actual chefs making roti.
The menu is reasonably extensive but there is a shorter list of lunch specials for day time devouring. I chose the roti with beef rending for two reasons. One - I love roti and was always going to have it. Two - beef rending is another personal favourite as well. It was a good choice.
The roti was lovely - up there with the best - and the beef rending was rich, tender and full of flavour. For $9.00 it was decent value. The serving wasn't huge and perhaps they could give a bit more beef - or just use a smaller container - but it tasted good.
