Burnt Orange
Chatswood Chase
345 Victoria Ave
Chatswood, NSW
Burnt Orange in Chatswood Chase is a smaller, more casual version of the Mosman cafe. Tucked nicely away in the shopping centre, Burnt Orange has a smart casual vibe, an oasis to escape and enjoy a beautiful meal and drink while you shop, or even as a destination to visit without being tempted to spend too much cash elsewhere. The cafe is wonderfully decorated, with leafy pillars and 'roofing' over the tables, which gives off a garden tea feel.
Burnt Orange offer breakfast, lunch and high tea options, as well as a great range of drinks. Duke and Duchess were visiting for breakfast this time around, and were both very pleased with the options available! The menu has a great range of options, sweet, savoury, a bit of both?, healthy and a little bit more of a treat. While we perused the menu we ordered coffee. A cappuccino for Duchess and a latte for Duke. Both were creamy, smooth and a slightly nutty roast. Great start to the day.
Duke ordered the breakfast banana split, with toasted muesli, yoghurt, seasonal fruits, and chocolate ganache. This was art on a plate, it looked absolutely stunning! Also a great healthy spin on the traditional banana split. Duke definitely didn't feel like he was overindulging. The fruit was green apple, mango, blueberries, strawberries and of course the banana. All were ripe and rich in flavour. The muesli was great, with dried fig, cranberries, oat clusters and rice puffs. The ganache was cocoa dense, not overly sweet and a great complement. The yoghurt was the perfect ingredient to bring it all together. Overall, a delicious meal.
Duchess ordered the breakfast board, which came with an incredible assortment of items - it was truly a sight to behold! Chosen with miso salmon (alternatively you can choose Wagyu pastrami), the salmon was served cold but perfectly flaky and pink, and the miso sauce was a great flavour. The board also came with haloumi, tapenade, dried olive flakes, pickled carrot, avocado, a soft boiled egg, radish, dill, pinenuts, lemon, quinoa salad and sourdough toast. What Duchess loved most about this board was the ability to mix and match the ingredients as desired - a bit of salmon and dill, a bit of avocado and radish. Whatever else you could possibly dream up!
Overall, Burnt Orange is a lovely little cafe with a great vibe. We'd be keen to see what their high tea and lunch offerings were like, as we are sure they'd be as unforgettably beautiful as our breakfast. Thanks to the staff for looking after us so well on the day, and to CPM Online Marketing Solutions for organising our visit.
