F & L Gourmet
Level 2 Macquarie Centre
Cnr Herring and Waterloo Rds
Macquarie Park, Sydney
Perhaps sounding a bit more like a supermarket, F & L Gourmet is probably not the most exciting name for a restaurant. It's a deceptive one too, tucked away behind the escalator and looking smallish from the front yet revealing quite a largish sprawling space inside decked out in a street feel. We were shopping and needed fuel and this was in front of us so we thought - why not!
You get taken to your table but then have to go back to order at the counter. Mlady chose an old favourite - Char Keow Teow - as she wanted noodles and meat and loves this dish. It certainly was a big serving and she actually couldn't finish it all.
Sir spied a special at the entrance, pork done two ways, Crispy skinned and BBQ'd. This was a massive dish. The amount of pork on the plate was a challenge even for Sir's appetite - which is substantial at the best of times - and in fact at all times! The meat was certainly tender and the crackling was crisp and crunchy as advertised. It came with a mound of rice and a bowl of hoi sin sauce for dipping the meat.
If you're after a big meal in Macquarie Centre then F & L Gourmet will give you this. It does cost a bit more than nearby food court places but the servings are certainly much more substantial.
