HUNTER GATHERER
Greenwood Plaza Rooftop
36 Blue St, North Sydney, NSW
The brand new Hunter Gatherer in North Sydney is the newest venture from the owners of renowned establishments in Bondi - The Corner House and Panama House. Hunter Gatherer is a bar and eatery - canteen style. It has a huge amount of space, filled with large share tables, booth style tables and intimate corners. The major point of difference is the incredible interior design of this restaurant. Walking in, our breaths were taken away. It has a fabulous LED wall, wrapping the room in changing light - it is soft, ambient and really makes a statement. Hunter Gatherer is stylish, modern, and not afraid to be different.
Duke and Duchess attended the canapé style launch event at Hunter Gatherer. The restaurant was packed, the mood was light, and the awe was real. What a great concept. The food at Hunter Gatherer is locally sourced, fresh and designed by Michelin trained chef Paul "Mick" Micklewright.
While we only tried canape versions of the vast array of food on offer at Hunter Gatherer - based on a seasonal menu - however, just this teaser was a great indication of things to come. On offer was everything from Batemans Bay rock oysters, Tasmanian smoked ocean trout on buttermilk pancakes and more. Some stand outs for us were the Bangalow Kurobota pork rilette croquettes - these oozed flavour and were super more-ish, and the Junee free range lamb riblets with house made green sauce. The food at Hunter Gatherer is just delicious.
Hunter Gatherer is also licensed - great for a post work tipple. They have a range of wines from Mad Hatter, Sydney Brewery beer and house cocktails on offer. We tried their version of a dark and stormy and peach cobbler - both delicious and well mixed.
We are excited to see what is ahead for Hunter Gatherer and go back for a meal and a drink or two.
Duke and Duchess, who review for Sir and Mlady Dine Out, were guests of Hunter Gatherer. Special thanks to Sacha from Pendulum Communications for this invitation.
