The North Spoon
165 Blues Point Rd
McMahons Point, Sydney
The newly opened "The North Spoon" instantly welcomes you with it's beautiful white and natural decor tones, it's windowed walls and friendly vibe. Located centrally in McMahons Point just opposite the Commodore Hotel, this great spot has a sneaky view to the Sydney Harbour Bridge. The owner Varun told us that in the warmer months, they'd be opening nights - and with their outdoor seating area and licensed venue combination, we're sure this will be a winner for locals.
The North Spoon has nailed their menu - serving all-day breakfast with plenty of options. They also have great lunch options, including slow-cooked ribs which we'll definitely be back for. We visited on a beautiful Sunday morning, and the cafe was busy but well-staffed. We ordered coffees, a latte for Duke and a cappuccino for Duchess, and perused the menu.
Duchess ordered the corn fritters, which were served with smoked salmon, haloumi, smashed avocado, a poached egg, cherry tomatoes and beetroot chips. This dish was incredible. The fritters were jam packed with fresh and sweet corn, the haloumi was a great touch, and the salmon was very tasty. The beetroot chips added a unique touch and were very yum. What a standout!
Duke had the Gypsy Toast - french toast with prosciutto wrapped banana, strawberry couli, maple syrup and fresh berries. This decadent dish was a great balance of sweet and savoury, and the banana and prosciutto was a welcome addition. Beautifully presented, this dish was a real winner.
We also shared the Buddha Bowl, which was a real winter warmer and full of healthy ingredients and delicious flavours. With quinoa porridge, chia and flax seeds, poached pear, banana, strawberries and coconut flakes, this was truly a delight and we probably could eat it for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
We absolutely loved The North Spoon. With a welcoming vibe, very friendly staff, a delicious menu and a wonderful location, we look forward to returning and are positive it'll be popular with Sydney-siders.
