XS Next Level
1183-117 The Horsley Drive
Wetherill Park, Sydney
This is one of the buzziest café’s we’ve been to! There is a takeaway queue out the door and both downstairs and upstairs (Next Level) seem to be full. That’s a good sign. It has a good vibe, with a rustic feel which is splashed with leafy greenery. The fabulous display counter full of scrolls and cronuts is a real eye-catcher, and so are the milkshakes here. You couldn’t walk past this place without wanting one! They are mountainous jars of chocolate indulgence!
Next Level is an upstairs area which has recently been opened and it comes with some new and exciting menu options. We saw some mouthwatering oven baked pizzas go past as we took our seats. It’s cosy up here, with a “look-down” cut out of the floor. You can see what’s going on downstairs so you still feel a part of the action.
We started with an item from the breakfast menu – the “Delicious Dean”. This was sourdough topped with avocado, cherry tomatoes, goats cheese, prosciutto, basil pesto and poached eggs. It looked stunning and it was delicious as described. One of the best brekkies we have had.
Dame M had cold pressed fresh watermelon juice and Dame K chose the orange juice while we waited for our next dish, the “President Jimmy”, a lovely roasted lamb dish. This looked as delicious as it tasted. The sliced lamb was really tender and cooked pink to perfection. The roasted veggies were so good! A very generous and tasty dish.
The next dish we chose was the “Chef’s Pasta” , which was loaded with big juicy prawns (optional) in a delicious tomato base. It had great flavours, combining cherry tomatoes, spinach and button mushrooms with shaved parmesan on top. Again, generous and delicious.
No room left but yes, of course we had a shake! The Cronut Shake was jammed so full of sticky goodies you could have this as a meal on its own! Topped with a warm, flaky cronut (oh, so amazing!) caramello koala, malteasers, m and m’s, kit-kat, whipped cream, sprinkles, wafers……and some salted caramel buried inside the shake! The melted chocolate was divine. We destroyed this masterpiece but couldn’t finish it even between the two of us! This was true excess and we felt totally spoilt!
These Dames were very impressed with XS Espresso and XS Next Level. The food here is very good. The shakes are show-stoppers but they do everything else so well here too. Servings are generous and there is an extensive menu and blackboard specials. It’s easy to see why people love it.
Those Dames, who review for Sir and Mlady Dine Out, dined as guests of XS Espresso. Big thanks to Claire McPherson from CPM online Marketing for arranging this visit.
