Zeus Street Greek
397 Sydney Rd
Balgowlah, Sydney
We were in the area browsing shops and in desperate need of a cool drink. We then spied Zeus and we’re drawn in. It’s an inviting place straight away. You order at the counter and the food is delivered to your table when ready. We couldn’t resist taking a peek at the menu and decided to add a few bites as well.
We’re always quite partial to a quick dip and they have quite a few dips on the menu here. We ended up choosing the taramasalata. We know this can be either pink or white and they do the white version here. It was delicious and came with a side of lovely warm pita bread. They were great together.
We also chose a plate of haloumi chips. They do haloumi in its usual way here too - grilled - but the idea of this tasty salty cheese in a chip version really appealed. At some places these types of chips can be a bit stodgy, but not here. They were light and crisp with a soft interior. A squeeze of lemon and they were eagerly devoured.
We did end up getting those drinks after all too. Even though Zeus is licenced, we grabbed a couple of bottles of lemon, lime and bitters to quench our thirsts. They were cold and hit the spot perfectly.
There were so many other options on the menu from snacks and starters through mains and across to desserts. We’re keen to visit again and explore the menu a bit more.
Zeus Street Greek was a welcome oasis on a thirsty afternoon. Ordering some food was spontaneous but a good move as it was very tasty and very affordable.
