89 THAI - WINDSOR, NSW

Cold nights and Thai food go hand in hand. We were away for a short break in picturesque Windsor NSW and we were feeling the cold. Thai food was the obvious solution so we headed off to the nearby 89 Thai. You instantly notice the classic building it's in, and then the sprawling space inside.

We wanted something as a starter but the question was, what? There were the usual choices available and a few different ones as well. While we flirted with the idea of duck pancakes, we ended up choosing the net spring rolls. These rolls were made with rice net wrap over crab meat, prawn and vegetables and served with sweet chilli sauce. They arrived quickly and really were very tasty. We actually fought over the fifth roll and ended up compromising by having half each.

The cold night meant we wanted something warming. Mlady was very keen to have the massaman beef do this job, It had great flavours and the beef was as tender as we had hoped it would be.

To have some variety we also chose the hot plate seafood. This dish was a hot plate that arrived sizzling and covered in a mix of seafood (prawns, fish, calamari and mussels) and vegetables and all slathered in their own tangy homemade sauce. This had lovely flavours and plenty of seafood in it too.

We of course needed some wine to wash it all down and some rice to soak up all the lovely sauces and juices. The coconut rice added a little extra something to the great flavouyrs too.

89 Thai has some tasty offerings. It's a pretty building with plenty of space and adds some nice spiciness to the food in the area.
