Barracks Bar (inside Crowne Plaza Hawkesbury)
61 Hawkesbury Valley way,
Windsor, NSW
Barracks Bar is obviously a drinks venue. It sits inside the elegant Crowne Plaza and is in reality far more than just a bar - as it has an extensive food menu there too. It's a pretty place with a welcoming fireplace just inside the entrance and another room attached with a pool table in there too. Take a close look at their chandelier too - it is made from inverted wine glasses hanging from a tiered circular rack. Impressive and functional all at once.
Mlady is quite a mojito fan so when she spied a mango mojito on the cocktail menu the decision was an easy one. The tropical tones of the mojito merged beautifully with the fruity mango. She hadn't had this combination before but said it was a winner.
If you like whisky and you like it with a twist then this whisky sour with orange and orange peel may well do it for you. Sir found it to have lovely bitter undertones that merged well with the whisky base. It was a bit like Cointreau but with a slightly more sour taste that he thoroughly enjoyed.
We loved sitting in front of the open fire, watching the flames jump around and at the same time sipping on our cocktails. In fact we liked it so much we revisited Barracks Bar several times.
It's hard to imagine an escape within an escape - but that's what Barracks Bar offers. It's a lovey place for a drink but the also serve a wide range of meals and share plates. You can have a drink there, a pre-dinner starter, a whole meal or even drop by just for their dessert of the day. It's certainly versatile and a pleasant place to relax as well.
