Danny's Seafood Restaurant
1605 Anzac Parade,
La Perouse, Sydney
Danny’s Seafood is located on the historic La Perouse peninsula which was named after the French Explorer Jean-Francois La Perouse. The views are picturesque and it is so relaxing looking out over the ocean. Danny’s is airy and spacious with a capacity of over 300. It is ideal for small gatherings right through to very large events. They serve lunch and dinner 7 days a week and even have a set Christmas Day lunch menu. It was a beautiful day when we visited so we sat outside soaking up the sensational views.
We had a mixed Oyster entrée made up of Natural – for the true purists who take their oysters seriously, Mornay – baked in a shell and smothered in a mornay sauce and cheese, Fried – which was in a light batter and lastly Kilpatrick – filled with finely diced bacon and Worcestershire sauce then grilled. This was a wonderful varied selection and they were all so tasty. It was hard to determine which one was our favourite, as being fans of oysters, each were very tasty in their own right. Our other delicious entrée was the BBQ King prawns – grilled with a fresh made chef's chilli sauce and served on a bed of saffron rice. Seriously, this was an absolutely amazing, dish – bursting with vibrancy! The prawns arrived on intensely coloured saffron rice and looked so appetising. The fresh made chef’s chilli sauce just added to this wonderfully tasty dish. We simply loved this!
Mlady had a lovely glass of red with her meal - Oakridge Over The Shoulder Cabernet Merlot and Sir decided to have a white wine – Henschke Eleanor’s Cottage Semillon which he also enjoyed. Danny’s also serves non seafood dishes so Sir ordered a steak for his main. Hechose his usual – medium rare, with Diane sauce which is a favourite of his. This was quite a thick steak, a nice cut of meat which was so tender, and, teamed with the great Dianne sauce, it made this a mouth-watering meal. The accompanying fluffy mashed potato went well too. Mlady loving seafood – had whole snapper – fresh local snapper grilled whole with lemon butter and extra virgin olive oil. This was a flavoursome dish. Not at all dry. It was lovely and moist and she thoroughly enjoyed the tender flesh and skin. Once Mlady had devoured one side – she lifted up the Snapper, flipped it over and began eating the other side. The accompaniment of chips went well with the Snapper.
We had enough room for dessert, so Sir chose the Vanilla and Lime Crème Brulee served with cream and ice-cream. Oh – nice crust was the initial reaction. The serving was massive! There were great flavours with the lime being quite subtle - not tart or overpowering at all. Sir thoroughly enjoyed his dessert. Mlady (no surprises- being a chocoholic) chose the Malteser Cheesecake – encrusted with chocolate and hazelnuts, topped with Maltesers served with cream and ice-cream. How yummy looking was this! And the taste – so good! A delectable smooth tasting cheesecake with a lovely tasting crust. This really was such a good cheesecake!
Danny's Seafood Restaurant has magnificent views out over the water and food to match this. Yes - go there for the seafood and views, but also for other dishes and some great desserts as well. It's a place for everyone.
