We do love Italian and experiencing the food at Deli Casella was amazing! Meeting the family, Phil, Antonella, Ray, Francesca, Mario and Enza was a real pleasure. Phil, as a school boy, started working with the local deli and it just grew from there. For over 31 years the Casella family have been a part of Roselands.
Being part of the new refurbishment, a destination hub has been created. This is a hot food bar with the style and tradition of a true Italian tavola calda. From their new pasta making machine they make from scratch lasagne.
Their Sicilian style arancini ball needs to be see to be believed! This would feed a family of four. The arancini honours their parents heritage.
Also Deli Casella has introduced a cake counter. The cakes are Italian old school style but there are some modern interpretations which are proving to be very popular. To name a few - the ricotta and pear cake, a seven layered chocolate cake (YUM) and of course those hugely popular cannoli’s, which you can get in various flavours.
There is so many incredible foods here! Many gourmet meats, sausages, pork pies, cheeses and more wonderful cheeses, grilled artichokes and so many olives! Yummo!. An absolute sensational display! You could lose yourself here - in a good way!
There is, not for the faint hearted, a Bomba salami. This is the King of the hot salami’s. Sir gave it go but could not finish his slice - and that is saying something. Give it a go - if you dare. It REALLY is hot!
We tried a variety of pizzas, lasagne and a massive antipasto. Everything was delicious! The pizzas had plenty of topping and the base was nice and soft.
The lasagne really was amazing. The meat was so fine and the flavours - so good. Mlady said this was one of the best lasagnes! The amazing antipasto. So much to choose from. Dips, cheeses, meats, fruits, olives, breads and breadsticks with a tasty prosciutto wrapped round it. We thoroughly enjoyed this.
Deli Casella is the place to go to stock up on great food. You can buy a meal there to take away of buy the ingredients to make something really special. Have a word with them if you want some tips on how to use their goodies too - they’re only to happy to help out with advice.
Sir and Mlady visited as guests of Costi Brothers Seafood. Special thanks to RoJo Consulting for arranging this visit.
