Dulcis Domus
16-18 Broadway
Ultimo, Sydney
Dulcis Domus is an Italian restaurant situated in Ultimo that has cute country-fied outside seating. There is an impressive wood-fire pizza oven there and you can order take-away pizza's as well as eating these mouth watering creations at the restaurant of course. The décor is comfortable with random ornaments adding character, such as an old fashioned bicycle perched high at the back of the restaurant. The atmosphere is casual and friendly. Inside there are various types of seating. The usual tables and chairs, booths and also some high bench-like tables and chairs.
We both started with a cocktail. Sir had an Aperol Spritz - Aperol, Prosecco and sodawater. Mlady chose the Rossini with strawberry puree but had this with Moscato instead of Prosecco. They were both really refreshing and a nice way to start our meal.
For our entrée we chose the cold meat platter that came with grilled red capsicum, zucchini, cherry tomatoes and bread sticks. We also had the grilled scallops with garlic almond and home made sauce.
The cold meat platter arrived on a breadboard and was placed high on one of those lovely pizza stands. There was a very tasty meat selection and combining this with all the other goodies was a good start to our meal.
OMG how good was this house made sauce! The grilled scallops were so plump and cooked perfectly. Combining this wonderfully tasty sauce with these oh so good scallops was just pure heaven. We loved this.
For mains Sir chose pistachio grilled lamb rack, pumpkin, red onion and fennel. Mlady chose a pasta dish - fettuccine, crispy prosciutto, cherry tomato, rocket and feta cheese.
Both mains were artistically presented. The lamb was lovely and pink inside and cooked to perfection. There was a beautiful golden crust of pistachio that enhanced the tender meat perfectly. This was a pretty dish - that tasted good!
The fettuccine was delicious. It had lovely crisp prosciutto shards protruding like stalagmites from the pasta. The colour of the red tomatoes, the white of the very tasty fetta and the green of the rocket - made this dish so incredibly tasty and mirrored the Italian flag! She thoroughly enjoyed this!
We also had a glass of red to accompany our meals. Sir had a Shiraz and Mlady had a Chianti.
For dessert Mlady had a "special" - homemade chocolate brownie, and she chose a scoop of vanilla ice cream to go with this. Sir had the crème brulee. Both desserts were garnished with plenty of fruit. The fruit was vibrant and combined with these very tasty desserts made for a really good taste sensation! The crème brulee had a great toffee layer on top, as a good brulee should, and underneath this was a lovely creamy custard. Mlady, being a chocoholic, thoroughly enjoyed the brownie. It was a delicious and substantial dessert and the vanilla ice cream went so well with it.
To complete our very tasty and substantial meal we finished with a digestive - a Limoncello - how good is this? This completed our meal perfectly - it's such a great finale to an Italian meal.
Sir and Mlady dined as guests of Dulcis Domus. Big thanks to Ilaria and Martina for taking care of us on the night. Special thanks to Chrissy Symeonakis of Creative Little Soul for arranging this visit.
