Ground Caffe
Lane Cove Market Square
24-28 Burns Bay Rd
Lane Cove, Sydney
It really was a pleasure to visit Ground Caffe in its central location near Woolworths Lane Cove. The place has been here for many years but new owner Cindy and her team have breathed new life into the once-ordinary menu.
The inside area is small but cosy, with the main feature being the great alfresco space. It’s a cool day but the outdoor heaters and sunshine keep everyone very comfy. The all-important coffee is by Toby’s Estate and the menu offers breakfast, brunch and lunch options, including vegan. There are some very enticing and healthy dishes, old favourites and innovative new combos.
The all-day breakfast is hard to resist, so we choose a Breakfast Burger and a Bruschetta. Can’t decide which bruschetta, so we have a slice of both the mushroom and the beetroot and broad bean. The staff were more than happy to oblige.
From the lunch menu we opted for the Vegan Poke Bowl. We would agree that the quinoa falafel were probably the best falafel we have ever had. Warm and fluffy inside and crispy golden outside, the taste was superb. They were topped with a lovely pesto dressing and served with tasty roasted sweet potato, toasted seeds and a salad including loads of avocado and crispy kale.
The Breakfast Burger was a toasted milk bun jammed with crispy maple bacon on smashed avo and the most awesome super-crispy potato rosti. It was all topped off with a perfectly poached free-range egg and delicious Sriracha hollandaise sauce. Yum! Breakfast heaven right there – a perfect combo done really well.
The bruschetta were equally amazing. Such delicious rosemary-infused mushrooms on soy linseed with avo pesto, tomato, poached egg, crispy kale and parmesan! It was truly as delicious as it looked. The beetroot and broad bean was a very tasty combo of tender beans on roasted beetroot mash and crumbed feta on sourdough. Also a delicious and healthy combination.
If freshly-made waffles take your fancy, there’s a mini menu of buttermilk waffle choices to tempt – one in particular looked too interesting to pass up. The Chicken Waffle featured crispy Cajun spiced fried chicken, slaw, pickles and cheese sandwiched between two fluffy waffles and drizzled with maple syrup! Unusual to say the least, and that chicken was tender, crunchy and super tasty.
Ground Caffe is open 6 days from 7am to 4pm and Sundays 7.30am to 3.30pm.
Great outdoor space for the kids and would be a perfect place for mothers group meets. This is a place for those who love really good food!
Those Dames dined as guests of Ground Caffe. Big thanks to Cindy for looking after us!
