Hokkaido Baked Cheese Tart
World Square,
5B, 644 George St
Haymarket, Sydney
Who'd have thought there would be queues outside a small place that basically just sells small baked cheese tarts? We suppose the owners did - because that's what happened and still happens. This place was very popular when it opened a little while back, and it still is at certain times.
So what are these delicacies anyway? They are a thin shortcrust-like pastry shell holding molten cheese that tastes slightly sweet and it has been browned a bit on top from the baking process.
If you think they will taste like a Portuguese tart, because they look like them, you will be surprised. They don't. This is cheese folks. They are marginally sweet though, but not heavily.
The tarts come individually or in larger packs. Be prepared to queue if you're there in peak times. Remember, they aren't like Portuguese tarts or baked egg tarts. They just look a bit like them!
