Loluk Bistro is a beautiful French Café located in Darlinghurst, just a stone’s throw away from trendy Crown Street and behind famous Oxford Street. It has a real provincial feel, with a lovely interior for relaxed encounters and a magnificent courtyard perfect for Al Fresco dining. It literally screams South of France!
We arrived for brunch on a beautiful sunny weekend and quickly found a spot to sit inside after a friendly welcome from one of the staff. Shortly after, we were being offered drinks, given the brunch menu and were given a run through of the fabulous food on offer. We were quite impressed with the seamless service.
We started with a bloody Mary and a green smoothie while we studied the menu. The Green Smoothie was packed with great flavours like spinach, cucumber and mint but also had a welcome surprise in the form of fennel which added a great aniseed hint to it. The Bloody Mary also didn’t disappoint. It was strong and with the right amount of Tabasco.
Next up some food and you can’t visit a French bistro and not have a Croque Madame, which here at Loluk Bistro would be a crime if you didn’t. Literally loaded with baked ham, gruyere and béchamel sauce and topped up with a sunny side egg, it's definitely something you won’t want to share with anyone else.
We also tried the Oeufs parfait en Verrine, which although hard to pronounce, is very easy to enjoy. The eggs are perfectly cooked for 60 minutes at 63 degrees and they are served with Ratatouille and lamb. It’s a hearty and satisfying breakfast.
Finally, we managed to fit in one more dish, The Le Gourmand, which as the name suggests, is not for the faint hearted. It had sausages, pancetta, spinach, sautéed mushrooms and the fluffiest scrambled eggs. We never struggle to finish our meals but this one was so huge, we really did struggle to finish it.
There were so many other choices on the menu but we just couldn’t fit anything else in. We definitely will be back to try more of their amazing menu.
Loluk Bistro ticks all the boxes for us. With great food, amazing service and a relaxed atmosphere, it should on your list of places to visit next. You won’t be disappointed.
