Monte Cafe Restaurant would have to serve the most prettiest and tastiest of dishes. The presentations are total works of art and the food really is delicious! The cuisine is modern Australian with a French flair. They have been open for 5 months and they have weekday specials.
Sir started his meal with white wine and Mlady had a Rose.
We had complimentary warm bread to dip into olive oil with balsamic - a nice tasty appetiser.
As an entree Sir ordered the twice baked French onion Souffle gratin which was accompanied with a garden salad. This was a beautiful light souffle surrounded by a lake of cheese. The flavours were so good and complimented each other so well that Sir loved this dish.
Mlady who loves seafood ordered the Torched NZ King Salmon - Szechuan crispy calamari, chilli and lime dressing, red radish, lime aioli, coriander. Yummo! Such a pretty and elegant dish. It also was so fresh with great flavours and tasted so good. Having a bit of everything on your fork - lovely! Wonderful taste sensation.
Sir moved on to a Shiraz with his main which was, no surprises - lamb. He chose Creme Fraiche pastry pie of slow braised lamb neck - creamed potato, ratatouille, fava bean and parsley dressing, jus. This was a total work of art and cooked to perfection. It was an island surrounded by totally mouth watering mash. Such a lovely hearty meal.
Mlady chose Char Sui Muscovy duck maryland - bean sprouts, shiitake mushrooms, coriander, Korean master stock, pork and cabbage dumpling, toasted sesame seed. So many different ingredients and all tasting so good! The duck just melted! Yum. The dumplings were encased in a silky noodle - divine. Lovely flavours and the combinations worked ever so well together.
We did manage to fit in dessert and Sir ordered Callebaut dark chocolate fondant - raspberry puree, hazelnut brittle, raspberry sorbet. The presentation, the taste - so good. Chocolate and raspberries go so well together. A bit of a perfect match - vibrant with a good taste sensation.
Mlady chose Monte's souffle of the day - cream anglaise, vanilla bean ice cream. This souffle was AMAZING! Loved it! You could not even feel the spoon cut through the souffle as it was so light, soft and fluffy. Perfectly accompanied with vanilla bean ice cream. This souffle has certainly set the bar!
The food at Monte Restaurant is Delicious with a capital "D" and seriously So Good. The meals were fresh, vibrant and total works of art. Do yourself a favour!
