CAMINETTO | THE ROCKS, SYDNEY

Caminetto
13-17 Playfair St
The Rocks, Sydney

Caminetto is one of the many pretty places at The Rocks that you've probably walked past a hundred times, said how nice it looked, but not stopped in. Well this time we decided to stop and stay. It was a nice day, sun shining, birds chirping (well they probably were somewhere) and the al fresco dining was beckoning us.

We started with a couple of glasses of wine while we made our food choices. The wine list is decent here - not overly long but with enough variety for most people to find what they like, and a seperate Italian wine section for both whites and reds. Then the food kicked off with some garlic bread which arrived hot and was a tasty way to commence an Italian lunch.

Mlady had a favourite Italian dish of hers, lasagne. It comes in a small or large serving and she had the starter size. It turned out to be a very decent portion and she enjoyed the flavours. It was smothered in a lovely tomato sauce. It certainly looked good too.

Sir chose a pasta dish - Salmone - olive oil, smoked salmon, onion, green peas, spinach, tomato and a touch of cream sauce. To be honest, he loves smoked salmon so it wasn't a surprise that he liked this dish. It was big, hearty and full of flavour. It only comes in a main course size, but that suited him perfectly anyway!

Caminetto is certainly a pretty place, with most seating outside. The Rocks is a prime spot and this back laneway place has plenty of charm to match the area it's in.

We left Caminetto satisfied, full and having been in a very pleasant place soaking up the ambience of The Rocks outside on a lovely day.
