When having brunch, how nice is it to sit in calming surroundings, relaxing and enjoying your first and all-important cuppa of the day. Well, we did just that. Petrel Kitchen serves Australian cuisine and native foods. We ordered our coffees – Sir his usual skim flat white with one sugar and Mlady her usual weak, soy cappuccino. These were so good and we ordered large. Wow – impressively presented. The cups really were large.
The sun was shining but being winter there was a slight chill but it was nice sitting there deliberating on what to choose.
Sir had the Petrel muesli – stewed granny apples, Greek yoghurt and mint with a mixed berry and date compote. There was certainly a lot going on here and it was all so tasty. Nice crunchy muesli combining well with the different fruits and yummy yoghurt. The mint giving it another dimension of freshness.
Mlady had the coconut sago pudding – with winter compote of apricot, fig, rhubarb, apple, berry, banana and ginger. This was such a light but extremely substantial dish. Everything complimented each other and it tasted good. Both brekkies were great way to start the day.
Petrel has a great feel to it. It's like dining on the front porch while you watch the world go by. Savour it, soak up the sun and enjoy the food! We did.
