The Bourbon
22 Darlinghurst Rd
Potts Point, Sydney
The Bourbon – which was known as “Bourbon and Beefsteak” is an icon in Kings Cross.
Having walked past it a lot in recent times, you can see the magnificence of the building. What you see is reminiscent of old world class in a contemporary setting.
Mlady had one of her “cravings” and wanted a burger. Sir was quite happy to accommodate this. Being in the area we seized the opportunity to eat at The Bourbon.
As we sat relaxed outside taking in the sights, as night fell – the change from day to night was mesmerising. The whole atmosphere changed with the twinkering of lights.
Mlady ordered her burger. It was stated on the menu as Classic cheeseburger with lettuce, tomato and pickles. It was served on a milk bun and also came with a serving of fries. This was just what Mlady wanted. Lovely soft bun, tasty burger and pickles which Mlady is a fan of – this ticked all the boxes. The yummy fries completed the meal.
Both Sir and Mlady had a glass of Merlot to compliment the meals.
Sir chose from the “Bourbon Classic” menu – The Bourbon beef pie which came with mash, peas and gravy. This looked delish and tasted delish. Nice soft mash, flavoursome beef, nice pastry which soaked up the yummy gravy and the peas sat on the top completing the meal. Sir thoroughly enjoyed this.
The Bourbon is not just an icon for the sake of it. It's in a prime location and has a good menu of tasty choices and a great outlook on to the busy activity outside. It's a great place to stop by for a drink and then a bite to eat. We'll be back to try more of the menu another day.
