Tawandang
706 George St
Haymarket, Sydney
Lunch time in Haymarket is a feast of choices with quick tasty and affordable options leaping out at you from every second doorway. Sir and Duke dropped in here at Tawandang and it was busy but moving quickly - tick one box. The food looked good - tick another box. It was also very affordable for lunch - final box ticked. We had a winner and sat down.
The lunch special menu has a variety of options. For around $10 you get a starter, a main course and a soft drink. Bargain! Sir chose a prawn cake to start with and Duke a spring roll. They arrived quickly, as expected, and were crisp, hot and tasty.
Sir grabbed a green curry chicken as his main. It came with a side of steamed rice. The curry had a good kick to it - in fact quite a big kick - which was perfect for the cold weather. It wasn't a massively big serving but it was certainly enough and for the price it was very good value.
Duke chose a chicken and vegetable combo that was also served with a big mound of rice. Again, it had good flavours and combined with the starter and drinks was excellent value.
Tadawang is certainly good value for a quick lunch. Their meal deals are a real bargain, but their menu goes well beyond just this. It's popular but moves people through quickly without seeming to rush you.
