Kings Cross Hotel
244–248 William St
Potts Point, Sydney
Mlady had a craving for fish ‘n chips and after searching on where to go we decided to venture to the Kings Cross Hotel. First impression of the hotel, which is situated in the heart of Sydney’s red-light-and-dancefloor district – gorgeous! It is a 6 storey building, from the rooftop down to a subterranean dive bar and the whole place has an ambience mix of modern and nostalgia.
As we were there quite early – 5pm we sat out on the first floor facing the iconic Coca-Cola sign and watched the hustle and bustle go by. It really was nice just sitting there, relaxing and soaking up the surroundings.
For drinks Sir ordered a beer and Mlady had a coke zero.
Mlady ordered the Coopers pale ale battered fish & chips, tartare, salad and Sir had the
Spaghetti, king prawns, chilli, garlic, lemon and rocket.
When the fish and chips arrived it really had such a WOW factor with such a generous serving. The fish was cooked beautifully, tender and moist which she devoured eagerly. The chips were nice and crisp and dipping them in the great tasting tartare – Yum. Mlady wanted some vinegar as well and our waiter courtesy obliged. Almost drowning the chips in the vinegar and pouring carefully into the fish before eating it – divine!
Sir’s spaghetti with the king prawns, chilli, garlic, lemon and rocket – was also a lovely tasting dish and was also generously served. Pasta and seafood – combine so well. The citrus of the lemon with the kick of the chilli, partnered with rocket – went so well together. The subtle colours and aroma added to its appetising appeal.
Kings Cross Hotel has a great feel to it. The food and service is good too. The best part is you can enjoy all this from their balcony on level one and watch the world go by below. It's so enjoyable during the day or in the evening. We loved it.
