We were in St Ives and visited Silk Dining for some much needed Yum Cha. We both do so love our Yum Cha! There is such a great variety. In many ways Yum Cha is a bit like Spanish Tapas, lots of lovely tasty dishes to choose from and share.
We can’t go past dumplings, so we started with Prawn dumplings, Prawn/Chive dumpling and Chicken Dim Sum. Yum Yum and Yum. These were plump and soft with a generous filling. We thoroughly enjoyed them all. There was also a side of soy sauce and chilli sauce. We both particularly like chilli sauce so dipping dumplings into the chilli sauce and devouring them was so nice.
Our drink of choice was Chinese tea. This really does go so well with Asian food. It was refreshing and piping hot. We enjoyed it so much that our pot had to be “topped up” several times.
The pork buns looked quite filling but they were light and fluffy with a nice “porky” flavour inside. There were also Custard Panda egg custard buns. These too were light and fluffy, with a nice custard centre.
The fried noodles were a lovely crispy dish. The noodles were thin and teamed with the spring onion, this made for a nice tasty combination. It was also a decent sized serving too and quite filling.
Mlady loves her “greens” and the Steamed Chinese Broccoli with oyster sauce was a good choice. The greens were beautifully steamed and went well with the oyster sauce that was drizzled on top.
Next was sesame prawn toast, wontons and chicken spring rolls. These are a crowd pleaser! Nicely crisped wontons, tasty prawn toast, generously filled spring rolls - dipping these into the sweet sauce that came with it - or the chilli sauce that we also had - was such a good way to go. We really enjoyed this crispy trilogy.
Silk Dining is a lovely restaurant with spacious seating for couples and families. The decor is pretty and the service is good too.
The Yum Cha and other dishes that we had were tasty, fresh and the servings were generous.. So if you’re in St Ives Shopping Centre for a spot of shopping, pop into Silk Dining to regroup and recharge, then hit the shops again.
