The Local Taphouse
122 Flinders St
Darlinghurst, NSW 2010
On a Saturday night its nice to go out, eat and listen to music. So with that in mind we ventured to the Local Taphouse to sample their food and listen to their free live bands. It turned out to be a great choice as the food was great and we saw Sydney band Bright Young Things play two sets - good fun with the entire place alive!
The pizza looked good on paper - and on the plate. A Margherita pizza done well is simple delicious food at its best. This one was certainly good. Plenty of fresh basil and whole cherry tomato's combined into a lovely simple flavourfest. It was a decent size too and at only $17.00 was good value.
The wedges were an indulgence that turned out to be a beautiful surprise. We expected the usual here - but got so much more! They weren't just chunky potato wedges. Our bowl contained crispy potato wedges, crispy potato skins and crispy sweet potato wedges, crispy turnip wedges. They came with a nice bowl of sour cream too. I cant remember how much they cost but it was dirt cheap and a bargain.
We decided we'd go back again when the same band were playing - which I think is in a few weeks. It was a great night of great food and great music. Can't wait! They also have a great range of specialty beers and wines there too - very impressive.
