Italian then a movie on a Saturday night - sounded like a good plan to us straight away. With this in mind we headed out to Castle Hill for both. Our food destination was Criniti’s - a name well known across Sydney. They’re on the bustling Piazza at Castle Towers with an indoor space and a large covered outdoor area for al fresco dining. As it was a stifling day we retreated to the cooler space inside.

We decided on being conservative and pass the entrees and go straight to the mains. However we did grab some drinks first. Mlady had a melon spritz and Sir had an Aperol spritz. Both were so refreshing on a hot day.

Mlady main was criniti’s lasagne. This was a dish she rarely ordered in days gone by, when penne was her favoured destination. Now it’s up front in considerations. This one was big, bold and delicious. Made from a traditional family recipe, it had beef bolognese, béchamel, mozzarella, parmesan, napoli sauce. It’s “garnish” was a tasty mamma rosa’s meatball on top.

Sir loves pasta and seafood together so it was no surprise he chose this combination. The spaghetti aglio e olio was an olive oil based dish with extra virgin olive oil, garlic and parsley. Sir added a generous serving of prawns an optional extra to complete the dish. Grated parmesan on top was the perfect finale to what was a very tasty meal.

Criniti’s offers a very diverse range of food and drink options. There are also plenty of sharing choices too. It’s a big sprawling place too with plenty of seating inside and outside in the piazza.

We have been to several Criniti restaurants and have always enjoyed their food, service and hospitality. This occasion was no different. We left very full and satisfied.
