Billi’s Cafe
129 Blues Point Rd
McMahons Point, Sydney
Located just a stone’s throw from the beautiful bays of North Sydney on bustling Blues Point Road is Billi’s Cafe, a relaxed homey spot serving up an array of delicious breakfast and lunch favourites.
We visited Billi’s for brunch on a sunny Sunday morning and couldn’t get enough of the mouth-watering menu options and idyllic location.
Not ones to say no to sweets for breakfast, we ordered the French Toast which was definitely the star of this Sunday morning show. We’d go back just for the bread - dense yet fluffy with a lovely marble of fruity flavours. The toast was topped with delicate whipped ricotta, a whole poached pear and fresh berries. If that wasn’t enough, a rhubarb compote and passion fruit drizzle added a nice tartness, and an almond crumble a great little crunch. Micro herbs and fresh flowers finished this off beautifully. We could not get enough of this creation!
However, we didn’t start with dessert (not that it’s a problem if we did!). We each picked a savoury breakfast item to start for the sake of being a little responsible...
The Herbed Mushroom Bruschetta was definitely a stand out on the savoury menu. The Bruschetta featured a slice of toasted sourdough spread topped with a generous amount of whipped ricotta and piled high with mixed sautéed mushrooms. Adding to the flavour of this dish was marinated semi-dried tomatoes and an almond pesto. Baby spinach and a garnish of fresh herbs added some colour and a poached egg tied it all together perfectly. And because you can never have too much cheese, this dish was finished off with a sprinkle of Parmesan cheese.
Our second savoury dish was the Farmhouse Omelette - classic and delicious. The egg was folded into the perfect pocket stuffed full with smoked ham, mushrooms, tomato and caramelised onions. A slice of sourdough toast accompanied this crowd favourite and a simple garnish of grated radish and greens topped it off nicely.
Billi’s also offers a great variety of drink options. We opted for a coffee and a fresh juice. The coffee was robust and full of flavour, and the juice was a fresh, vibrant blend of carrot, orange and ginger.
Billi’s was the perfect spot for a casual Sunday brunch and the great location meant we could make the most of the day without travelling too far. Definitely the highlight of our weekend!
The Two Contessa’s visited as guests of Billi’s Café. Special thanks to Claire and April from CPM Online Marketing for arranging this visit.
