Tikka Take
6/21 Genge St
Civic, Canberra ACT
Once you walk anywhere near this place when it’s open, it’s hard to not go in. The smell is so enticing. It almost drags you in! We were in that situation. We weren’t sure where we were going to eat but couldn’t resist going inside!
We decided to share a starter and finally settled on the tandoori fish Tikka skewers that came in a serving of three. The fish was beautifully delicate and tender and it had a gentle kick to it too that was nicely balanced with the mint sauce that accompanied them.
Still in a sharing mood we decided on two main combinations to put in the middle of the table. The first was malabari prawns. The prawns were tender and the gravy was tasty with plenty of flavour. The rice soaked up the sauce nicely too.
We also couldn’t resist their butter chicken combination meal. We chose this with two naan breads instead of rice. Again the protein was tender and the gravy was tasty. We eagerly mopped it up with the naan.
They’re licensed here too. Sir had a cider while Mlady went for something soft - the no sugar ginger beer. There were plenty of choices though.
Tikka Take has a decent space and can fit quite a few people inside. they also have an al fresco area just outside the front door too. They also cater for a busy home delivery and take away service too.
We left Tikka Take full and satisfied. The food was tasty, the servings were decent sizes and the prices were very affordable. Service was fast and friendly too. It’s very easy to see why this place is so popular.
