Gelbison has been serving good hearty Italian food almost on top of Bondi Beach for many years now. It's earned an enviable reputation for quality in a nice homey environment. We dropped in to see for ourselves. It's a smallish place with a nice al fresco area out the front and a larger inside room.
We both love starting a meal with an antipasto, even though it may often be a heard choice with everything else that may be available. Here at Gelbison they have a tasty Antipasto Casaligno - with prosciutto, salami, cheeses, pickled vegetables and olives. It had colour and plenty of flavour and it was a good size too.
Although there are plenty of choices here, we still headed towards our traditional favourite - margherita. It's such a simple pizza that almost defines what a real pizza should be. This one was very tasty and we finished every bit of it. Next time it'll be something else just to see what else they do!
We left Gelbison's very satisfied. It lived up to the hype it has received for good quality food in a relaxed homey place.
