Golden Bakehouse

South Turramurra, Sydney
Any place with the word “Bakehouse” in its title has our attention. Even just standing outside them is a treat - with the wafting of freshly baked goods flowing out the doorways. Golden Bakehouse is a small place but like many, has a good range of cakes, pastries and breads.
Although it’s a bakery, they do have lots of other choices here too. One is their bacon and egg rolls. These are good. They do sometimes have them already made but at busy times they’re made to order. There’s plenty of bacon in there too and the rolls are of course made in house.
It seemed only fair to also try their croissants too. These were great with a nice buttery flavour and they were big too. They had a nice crunch on the outside with a great flaky crust and they were beautifully soft inside.
Vanilla Slice is a favourite of Mlady’s and so this easy choice just slid into the order. The custard was rich, sweet and tasty, just as she likes. the pastry was flaky too. It must have tasted good because it seemed to disappear very quickly.
This unusual Palmier was almost impossible for the “Palmier Prince” to avoid. Sir loves these, but he wasn’t completely sure that this was a palmier, even though it had the sign on it. It turned out to be very tasty, but it wasn’t really a palmier. It was more of a pastry.
Golden Bakehouse is a smallish place with plenty on offer. They also sell coffee here too, and judging by the steady stream of take away orders they were filling, it must be pretty good. They seemed to have plenty of people there just for a morning coffee. We’re keen to try a few more of their cakes. Bring on the next visit!
