Who doesn’t love Pizza? We certainly do. For us, there’s nothing better than the woody smell of a handmade artisan pizza straight out of the oven. If this sounds like you as well, then let us introduce you to GoodPizza, a truly different kind of artisan pizza.
GoodPizza is located in the suburb of Alexandria right on Botany Road with plenty of on street parking available. The space is relaxed with seating both inside and out. The room has a lovely vibe and as you take your seat, you can see the traditional wood fire oven glowing in the back. It’s also BYO, which is perfect for anyone who likes a specific kind of drop (like us).
As we studied the menu, we noticed many original and different pizza toppings and combinations. With a long list of white base, red base and even vegan pizzas available, it's evident GoodPizza isn’t your typical wood fire pizza restaurant.
We started with the ‘Porchetta about it’ (The pizza names here are as original as the toppings). This pizza had a white base and was loaded with Swiss brown mushrooms, Italian pork sausage, white truffle oil and fior di latte. It was bursting with that wood fire aroma, fresh out of the oven and full of flavour. It had just the right amount of truffle oil too which was great. Too much truffle oil can be overpowering sometimes and can ruin the taste of the pizza. Not here though. It was perfect!
Next we tried the ‘Valletta’, which was a red base pizza topped with tomatoes, a cured Maltese sausage which was so delicious, you could eat it raw (the chef gave us a taste before the pizza came out) and finally, a silky mouth-watering Maltese pepper cheese. This pizza was amazing. The cheese was oozing as we took each slice. We also loved the traditional Maltese flavours in a wood fired pizza. We hadn’t tried something like this before and we loved it so much, we finished the entire pizza in seconds.
Whilst we devoured our dinner, we spoke to the owner and head Chef, Alex, who chatted to us about his passion for pizza and creating unique combinations. Alex has personally designed and created all pizza combinations as well as their names.
We finished off our evening with a beautiful dessert Pizza - the Portuguese Tart - which was a heavenly combination of house made custard and cinnamon. It was also cooked on that unique base that sets Good Pizza apart. It was a true taste sensation and a great end to a fabulous night of delicious food.
GoodPizza is open Tuesday to Sunday for both lunch and dinner. Depending on where you live, Good Pizza can also deliver their deliciousness right to your doorstep. If you haven’t had a chance to check them out yet, we highly recommend you do.
The Counts dined as guests of GoodPizza. Big thanks to owner/chef Alex. Special thanks to Hannah from Hollinshead Comms for arranging this visit.
