The feel at Ho Jiak is good - really good. The business and crowds they attract are testament to this. It was packed when we arrived but moving fast and we were lucky to grab a table for two inside. Outside there were more tables though full of people enjoying their delicious meals from Ho Jiak. Their authentic Malaysian street food is certainly very popular.

Sir ordered a "special" - the steamed tofu. It came smothered in the most delicious sauce. This was seriously one of the best. The silken tofu was so smooth and did we mention that we simply loved the sauce!

A traditional favourite of ours is satay chicken skewers and we couldn't resist ordering this. It reminded us of our last trip to Penang and having them as part of the street food there. We also enjoyed the coolness of the cucumber that accompanied these lovely sticks.

The plain roti was delish. It was so flaky, so crispy and was such a shame to share - even though we had lots! We love good roti and this was some of the best we've ever had.

Another all time favourite of ours is the Penang Fried Koay Teow - how good was this! This really was such a tasty dish. We love the spicy flat rice noodles and this version came with king prawn - and there were plenty of them too! It's easy to understand why this is a signature dish here.

Another "signature dish" we ordered was the Penang (King) prawn noodle soup. This was also divine and a wonderful combination with deliciously soft thin and hokkien noodles.

We then chose the Nasi Lemak - traditional hawker style coconut flavoured rice - with a sunny side up egg and fried chicken. This was another filling and very tasty dish that was also one of those "whole meal on a plate" dishes.

Our drinks were Teh Tarik Ice - which is "pulled" milk tea with condensed and evaporated milk - and Michael Jackson Ice (great name by the way) - made from soya milk with grass jelly. Both drinks had great flavours. Mlady loves anything soy so her favourite was the Michael Jackson for its taste and for the name!

The food here at Ho Jiak is so substantial and the menu has so much variety. It all had such wonderful textures, flavours and combinations. We could eat this food all the time - it was that good. This is the real deal here - truly authentic.

Sir and Mlady dined as guests of Ho Jiak. Big thanks to Hadi - the restaurant manager - for taking such good care of us. Special thanks also to Simon from One Social for arranging this visit.
