Katsuya Japanese Restaurant

Katsuya is a fusion of Japanese and Asian food. It has a nice feel there with relaxed surroundings and a clear vibe of the genre flowing through the place.
Being fans of tofu we started with the Agedash tofu. This had a nice light crisp outside and the inside was oh so soft and fluffy. The accompanying sauce was a lovely tasting addition to this delicate dish.
Sir and Mlady love dumplings - so we just had to try the Goyza dumplings. They were so good. We had vegetables and there were plenty of them encased in a lovely silky dumpling "coat". Very tasty.
Next we had the sizzling yakiniku wagyu beef. This was a substantial serving with plenty of tender beef which combined well with the vegetables - shallots, onions, carrots and green capsicum. It really had great flavours too.
Our next dish was a "fun" dish. It is half cooked and you continue on with the cooking process - which did not take long. We had the Gyu Katsu. It is described as - "Farm fresh beef, fried for 1 minute at high temperature to ensure great texture and taste. Chefs suggestion serve medium rare with crispy crust. Can be cooked further using mini grill on fire pot if so desired". Well, we did continue on with the cooking process - which did not take long at all. The beef was lovely and tender and the crispy crust was just that - crispy - and very nice! Accompanying this fun dish included a tasty sauce, salad, soup, rice and potato. It was a great dish.
Katsuya serves tasty food with lovely combinations and the servings are generous.
Sir and Mlady dined as guests of Katsuya Japanese Restaurant. Thank you to Jenny for looking after us on the night. Special thanks to Brooke from Colliers for arranging our visit.
