What initially strikes you at Hombre is the wonderful vibrancy of the venue. So much colour and authenticity and there are even Mexican styled hats on the tables.
Sir started with a drink - a frozen margarita. This arrived in a cute cactus styled glass. Mlady had an enjoyable Cabernet Sauvignon.
The first taco we tried was the Mojo pulled pork - Mexican-style pulled pork, shredded queso topped with chipotle coleslaw, pineapple fresca and chipotle aioli. This was nice and soft and the flavours were really good. The tasty combinations were crisp and so fresh.
The Fish taco our second one was another we just had to try. It was a lightly beer-battered flathead on chipotle aioli topped with chipotle coleslaw, mango avocado salsa and fresh coriander. Seriously - how good was this! Lovely tender fish, nice tasting beer-batter, loved the mango avocado salsa. Wonderful fresh combinations This, oh so yummy taco ticked all the boxes.
Next, we had a Burrito - Burrito Jose Style - toasted 12" tortilla. We chose to have this with chicken. It also had refried beans, Spanish rice queso, shredded iceberg, roasted tomato salsa and guacamole. This was so good! You could hold it and it all stays together - brilliant! It had such a great bite to it - loved this. So fresh and flavoursome.
Loving burgers we had the Messy Jose Hamburguesas - we chose beef and it came with guacamole, chipotle aioli, melted queso, chipotle coleslaw and crispy bacon served with fries. How good was this burger, Sure it was a tad messy - but isn't that how a really good hamburger should be! Crispy bacon - oh yes! This truly was a very yummy burger.
We did manage to have a dessert and it was the Mexican Brownie - warm chocolate brownie, vanilla ice cream, cinnamon dust, salted caramel sauce and crumbled pecans. Such a good chocolatey brownie and doesn't vanilla ice-cream go so very well with chocolate. We thoroughly enjoyed this and it was such a shame that Mlady had to share with Sir - but only a little!
The food at Hombre Mexican is authentic, healthy, fresh, incredibly flavoursome with a rainbow of amazing colours.
Sir and Mlady dined as guests of Hombre Mexican Street Food. A big thank you to owner Brad, chef Emeleen and Madeline for sharing their passion and vision and taking care of us on the night. Special thanks to Brooke from Colliers for arranging our visit.
