Leaf Cafe
Marina Square, 5 Footbridge Blvd,
Wentworth Point, Sydney
This lovely airy eatery is on the water side of the Marina shopping Centre, with plenty of undercover parking below. Diners can choose alfresco or indoor options and order at the counter. If you’re fond of coffee, then this is the place to be – they roast their own beans locally before shipping them to their franchise stores.
Of course we start with a flat white, which is simply superb. Probably the best coffee we can remember. There are plenty of other drinks options including flavoured lattes on the menu and a display of cakes at the counter. The menu is largely brunchy, with some really delicious-looking combinations. Chef Ryan Qui is known for his innovative dishes and has also created a seasonal special menu to celebrate all things truffle! You really must try his creations.
Our first dish was the Salmon Wellington – a tasty hot salmon pastry parcel served with charred lemon and crispy kale on top. It was really a beautiful dish and certainly delicious. We loved that crunchy kale. Seafood and pastry go so well together and the salmon inside this parcel was still so tender and juicy.
Next we chose the Breakfast Gnocchi, which sounded interesting with its combination of chorizo, tomato, crispy potato skin and parmesan snow. The gnocchi is home-made and topped with a nice oozy poached egg. We added shaved truffle. What a fabulous combination with all flavours working so well together. It was so tasty.
Lastly we wanted to try the Miso Mushies. This was a combination of mushroom styles with edamame and spring onions, poached egg and super crispy enoki. The base was a brown rice crisp and the whole thing was simply beautiful! Great taste and presentation to match.
Well we couldn’t fault anything here and will go back in a flash to try more of these creative and delicious dishes. Leaf Café is open every day of the week and the prices are very reasonable, especially considering the food quality.
Those dames dined as guests of Leaf Café. Special thanks to Chef Ryan Qui and Aurelia for arranging this tasty visit.
