Manoosh Pizzeria
170 Enmore Rd
Enmore, Sydney
If you like a good pizza then Manoosh Enmore should be on your list of places to visit. Right in the heart of the inner west, not far from Enmore Theatre, Manoosh is serving an Italian favourite with a Middle Eastern twist. Forget Prosciutto and think delicious ingredients such as Suzuk, Kafta, Haloumi and Labne.
The store is open for both dine in and take away with seating for about 20 or 3O people in a room next to the kitchen. We arrived for late Sunday afternoon lunch and the place was relatively quiet so we had no problems finding a table. However we heard that during peak times things can be crazy and the place is buzzing.
We started our lunch with a couple pizzas ( of course)!! And here at Manoosh, they have over 20 to choose from. We ordered the Manoosh special from the Traditional Pizza menu and the Sujuk Pizza from the Lebanese style Pizza menu. There were so many options to choose from, we weren’t quite sure what to pick.
Both Pizzas were piping hot, fresh out of the oven as they hit our table. Two things that stood out for us were the freshness of the ingredients and the crispy zataar base. Slightly different to your traditional pizza base, the zataar base is crispy and thin without being flaky. Count N especially enjoyed the thick pieces of suzuk on the Lebanese style pizza. They certainly don’t skimp on the toppings here.
We then moved on to some sides and enjoyed a colourful bowl of Tabouleh which was bursting with fresh ingredients and flavour. It was a nice interlude to the pizza and one we enjoyed a lot.
We also tried a mix box of Kibbeh which is pretty much a national dish for Lebanon. We especially liked the different types of fillings that were available (we thought kibbeh was only made with minced lamb) but here at Manoosh they have Kibbeh stuffed with pumpkin and even cheese (the cheese one was especially hard to resist). The Kebbeh was spicy and full of flavour, the fillings were plentiful and fresh.
Time for dessert though, and yes, in case you were wondering, we were able to fit in something sweet. The biggest challenge for us was deciding what to have as there were quite a few choices on offer (Count J was having a hard time choosing). So, after much deliberation, the Choc Ricotta triangle was named the winner, one we can only describe as a mouth-watering triangle of puff pastry filled with chocolate, almonds, hazelnuts and a special blend of ricotta mixed with banana. The gooey soft centre oozed out as we bit into it. It was a satisfying taste sensation.
Manoosh Enmore impressed us with its delicious food, great service and relaxed atmosphere. Whether you are looking to dine in or takeaway, the friendly staff will make your pizza fresh for you, right in front of you (There’s a lot to be said about an open plan kitchen where customers can see what is going on behind the scenes). Manoosh Enmore is open 7 days a week from 5pm to midnight.
The Counts, who review for Sir and Mlady Dine Out, dined as guests of Manoosh Pizzeria. Special thanks to Nick for this invitation.
