Memphis Wings

This little casual restaurant is tucked away in the corner of a home-makers shopping centre. The staff are lovely and the mood is definitely “family friendly”, especially since the outdoor dining tables are fronted by a covered kids play area. The menu is impressively big and you can mix it up with sides and combos if you want variety. Southern BBQ and Tex-Mex, their website claims “we smoke everything” so it’s happy days for these carnivorous Dames! Mind you, they have also spread their "wings" quite a bit - and their newest restaurant at Minto is testament to this - with the same delicious menu there too!
Did I say big menu? They have everything here – breakfast, burgers, ribs, loaded fries, wings, Mexican, seafood, hotdogs, cold sandwiches, hot rolls, milkshakes, desserts and much more! We start with a crispy Salt and Pepper Calamari which has a nice pepper kick, served with a “Memphis dip” and some Smoked Buffalo Wings (slow cooked and smoked for 4 hours with our choice of sauce – smokey BBQ. It was hard to eat these wings in an elegant way, but equally hard to stop eating them. So good!
How does this sound - smoked BBQ ribs which have been slow cooked for 20 hours? We HAD to try the half rack of pork baby back ribs which came with curly fries and corn. It was delicious! Melt–in-the-mouth meat with such a great flavour.
Now for something Mexican – Chicken Quesadilla with sour cream, mild salsa and melted cheese. It was crispy and tasty. Of course, some loaded fries were necessary to accompany this. We chose Chilly Cheesy – curly fries with melted cheese, chilli con carne, bacon and sour cream. This dish was a meal in itself. Very generous and totally loaded! Such an indulgence and very good.
Both Dames were too full for dessert, but there were also so many tempting menu items we hadn’t tried. There would have to be a “next time”. Memphis Wings is open 7 days a week and their new outlet in Minto beckons. That would certainly be a great place to check out. The more outlets the better! The food is good and the prices are really decent. Its nice to see this in such an expensive market.
