Olivo sits in an isolated spot for dinner because there's not a lot of other food places around it. Because it's part of a shopping complex - on the edge of it to be precise - there is no shortage of evening parking! We dropped by for a bite on a Saturday night and found a busy place with a hum of activity.
We started with an entrée between us - salt and pepper squid. It was a good sized serving of tender squid that also came with a side of golden fries and a pot of aioli.
We both decided to have pasta as our mains even though Olivo is predominantly known for its pizzas. We just felt like pasta. Sir had a favourite combination for him - pasta and seafood. In this case it was linguini with a mix of squid, mussels and prawns. It was a good sized serving.
Mlady went for a more traditional combination of pasta and Bolognese sauce. Mlady loves penne and the rich tasty sauce was a winner for her too. She said this was probably the dish of the night.
We ended our meal with a serving of date cake served with ice cream and whipped cream. It's so hard not to finish a meal with something sweet isn't it? This dessert also had a nice drizzle of caramel sauce on the cake too.
We were eyeing off the pizza's that had been ordered at nearby tables. This is what Olivo focusses on and they did look very good. The serving sizes were good here though and we left full.
